Hong Kong Institute of Construction Website Revamp
(Revamping HKIC and SPDC Website Design)
CIC consists of a chairperson and 24 members representing various sectors in the industry, including employers, professionals, academics, contractors, workers, independent persons, and government officials.
Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) is a member organisation of CIC that provides quality construction training in Hong Kong established in 2019, while the School of Professional Development in Construction (SPDC) is the professional education arm of HKIC set up in 2020 to provide advanced and continuous education for in-service professionals in the construction industry.
CIC put great emphasis on digitalisation and built many websites in the past years. There are already more than 20 websites managed by the Information Technology Department (ITD) and other business units, and it is still growing.
Previously, HKIC (https://www.hkic.edu.hk) and SPDC (https://spdc.hkic.edu.hk) are using two separate websites, which are the key online channels for CIC to advertise and promote various programmes, courses and activities with the public.
The key objective of this tender is to revamp the HKIC and SPDC websites and produce ONE new unified website to create a seamless and engaging experience for the general public as they access the website and resolve the problems.
--------------------------------------------------
The successful redesign of the unified website will mark a significant milestone in CIC’s digital transformation journey. Key achievements include the harmonization of HKIC and SPDC’s branding under a single, cohesive identity, reinforcing CIC’s authority as a leader in construction education. Operational efficiency will improve through streamlined website management, reducing the IT Department’s workload by consolidating redundant platforms. The project’s success will be measurable through increased user engagement, such as higher course enrollment rates and faster access to critical resources, positioning CIC as a benchmark for digital excellence in Hong Kong’s construction sector. Additionally, industry recognition through awards or stakeholder endorsements will underscore the platform’s role in advancing professional development and innovation.
The website’s design is transcend conventional educational platforms by integrating cutting-edge innovations that reflect HKIC and SPDC’s forward-thinking ethos. Creative solutions could include immersive learning experiences, such as augmented reality previews of construction techniques, or dynamic storytelling elements that highlight alumni success stories. AI-driven personalization engines could curate course recommendations based on user behavior, while modular design systems would allow the interface to adapt to diverse user journeys. Judges will seek originality that balances aesthetic boldness—such as kinetic typography or interactive visualizations of Hong Kong’s architectural milestones—with functional practicality, ensuring the platform stands apart from existing CIC websites while remaining intuitive for all users.
